About us

Filmind is an initiative that grew out of the local media summit “Refocus: Transforming the Future of Media in Minnesota” held in April 2007.  Funding for that summit was provided by The McKnight Foundation, Bush Foundation and The Jerome Foundation, with additional support from Minneapolis Community and Technical College.  The summit organized several break-out sessions including one on the local film exhibition community.  Members from that group reconvened in August 2010 and bi-monthly since them to strengthen the development, leadership and presentation of work by the area film exhibitors and festivals.

Through Filmind the local Film Exhibitors/Festivals group strives to raise the awareness of our programs and to encourage critical discourse about cinema through connections to the blogging and academic communities.
